Trilateral Dance Exchange Project
/Germany – France – Lithuania/
„Tanz! Danse! Šokti!”
Topic: Dance exchange, cultural and artistic exchange, preparation of dance performance
1st phase: from April 30th- May 5th 2013 in Blossin (Brandenburg, Germany)
Participants: 30 young dancers from Lithuania, France and Germany aged 13 to 17
On the 30th of April 2013, 30 teenagers from France, Lithuania and Germany arrived in Blossin, Brandenburg in order to participate in a trilateral project organized by the Centre Français de Berlin, the French-German Youth Office (OFAJ/DFJW), the Youth centre for education Blossin, the Lithuanian Youth Center and the Ligue de l´Enseignement.
On the first day, all the participants got to know each other and were able to share their particular interests in dancing in spite of the language barrier. During the next five days, this barrier was partially taken down by way of language workshops, during which the participants had the chance to learn basic phrases and communicate in German, French and Lithuanian.
The next part of the program consisted of three individual dance workshops presented by their leaders: Micky (Germany) for hip hop, Iva (Lithuania) for contemporary dance and Marie-Pierre (France) for Modern dance. These workshops were offered every day for four hours; the participants could attend two workshops each. They therefore had a great chance to try, learn and practice the different dancing styles.
Contemporary dance presented by Iva focused on body structure, natural ways of movement and spatial perception. The dancers could train and improve their technical skills or new dancing figures in the field of hip hop with experienced hip-hop trainer Micky. Last but not least, the youngsters prepared a modern dance choreography with Marie-Pierre.
Due to the young dancers’ high level of interest and passion, there were also additional workshops for Zumba dance. During their free time, the participants were able to draw on their team spirit by playing team sports, enjoying the excellent facilities offered by the Blossin Youth educational centre.
One day of the program was dedicated to the visit of Berlin, where the German participants prepared a nice program for their international friends. After visiting the main monuments of Berlin, they presented the Youth center in Wedding as well as the project “Kingz of Kiez”.
The participants had the chance to show what they had learnt from each other and share the different dancing styles during the last night’s dance performance. On the 5th of May, the time came to say goodbye. However, before the very end of the program, the French participants took the initiative to prepare the program for their next meeting in October in Paris, taking into account the other participants’ expectations and wishes. The young people said goodbye and all of them are already looking forward to meeting in Paris during the second part of the project!
