Amélie Schoenenwald, Astronaut Reserve at ESA
Dr. Amelie Schoenenwald studied biotechnology and biochemistry at the Technical University of Munich. After doing research in Austria, Israel, Singapore and the USA, she received her PhD in Integrative Structural Biology and completed a European MBA. She has worked for biotech start-ups and the healthcare industry, among others, and now works in the strategy department of a large corporation in Munich. Dr. Amelie Schoenenwald is a member of the ESA Astronaut Class of 2022, selected out of a pool of over 23,000 applications from all over Europe. In 2024 she has started the first of three Astronaut Reserve Trainings Sessions at the European Astronaut Centre, preparing her for a potential mission to space.
Valérie Chartrain, Futurologist
Valérie Chartrain is a professional in foresight and strategy, with a diverse and international background. Over the past ten years, she has led complex and interdisciplinary projects in both the public and private sectors, leveraging her expertise in research, strategic planning, workshop facilitation, and actor mapping. Notably, in the space sector, she has contributed to significant initiatives, such as developing a mapping of European actors in space foresight to enhance the visibility of the think tank Space’ibles. She has also led projects like the Franco-German initiative TOM (Together On the Moon), which combined reflection on the use of lunar resources with prospective scenarios. Additionally, she worked on future scenarios for space tourism for CNES and served as an advisor to the European Space Agency (ESA) on human exploration strategies.
